”Receiving the Chance To Rise Award meant so much more to me than receiving financial assistance. It made me feel seen, supported, and reminded me that there are people who believe in women who are working hard to create a better future for themselves. Their family and their communities as a mother and a woman pursuing my education and career in substance use disorder and recovery field. My journey has not always been easy. There have been obstacles and moments when continuing towards my goals felt overwhelming. But I have continued to push forward. The Chance To Rise Award helped me relieve some of the financial burden of my education and allowed me to stay focused on completing my program and preparing for the next chapter of my career. My goal is not only to build a better future for myself and my children, but also to use my education, personal experiences and passion for helping others to make a difference in the lives of people struggling with addiction, homelessness, and other challenges. Ultimately, I hope to create a faith-based sober living environment where people can feel supported while rebuilding their lives. Receiving this award reminded me that sometimes one opportunity, one person believing in you or one organization willing to invest in your future can help you keep going. "Receiving this scholarship impacted my life greatly. It is allowing me to go to Solano Community College full time, while still maintaining my status as a volunter firefighter. Without the scholarship, I would not be able to be a full time student or I would not be able to purchase all of the necessary materials for classes, like a graphing calculator or books. This scholarship has boosted me in my goals of becoming a career firefighter, as I can now work towards my degree and possibly my EMT certification later on! Our Foundation

Soroptimist International of Central Solano County provides services to families in Solano County through diaper drives, coat drives, backpack drives and blankets for foster children. We also provide books to the Reach Out And Read program

The club meets the first and second Tuesday of the month at the Hilton Garden Inn for program meetings with presentations from charity organizations.

Honoring local women and girls through the Awards the Club issues to deserving women. Award Presentations are at the Holiday Lunchen in December and the Awards Luncheon in Spring.
